When I check “Remember Me” on login, it doesn’t remember me!
If you’d like to not enter your email and password every time you visit Penzu.com make sure to check the “Remember Me” box on either our login popup or login page:
Once you log in with the “Remember Me” box checked, clicking the “Logout” link at the top of your screen will cause the Remember Me to be turned off and you will have to log in again. So in order for Penzu to remember you, you can’t actually log out. When you’re done writing, you can either close the window, tab, or browser. Then to get back in, just visit http://penzu.com and you will be logged in already!
Keep in mind that (especially if you’re using a shared computer and don’t want others reading your entries), when Remember Me is on your journal should be locked.
How do I change my time zone?
To change the time zone associated with your Penzu account, follow these steps:
1. Go to your Settings page by clicking on the “Settings” link at the top right of your page:
2. Click on “Settings for Entire Account” at the top of the page:
3. Find the Time Zone setting at the top. Select your zone and click “Save”.
The date on all entries (future and past ones) will be updated, and even your reminders will adjust to your new timezone…
How does Auto-logout work?
Now you can turn Auto-logout on or off from your Settings page:
After 15 minutes of inactivity, if Auto-logout is on we will automatically log you out of your current session. It is off by default, but if you journal on a shared or public computer we highly recommend that you turn this feature on. Using the “Remember Me” function while Auto-logout is on negates it’s purpose so be sure to keep “Remember Me” unchecked or off.
What is Penzu Looking Glass?
Most Penzu users enjoy reading their past entries—in fact, most journalers keep a journal for that exact reason: to reflect on the past. We’ve come up with a great way to help unearth some of those old entries. Looking Glass is an algorithm that chooses an entry from the past that you might have forgotten about and sends you a snippet via email. Depending on how often you write (or have been writing), you could be receiving emails of past entries every day or a few times a month. For entries that are locked or in locked journals, we only send a link to the entry so your private writing isn’t exposed.
When you create a new Penzu account (Pro or Free), Looking Glass is on by default. To turn it off just go to your settings page and click “Turn Off” next to the Looking Glass setting:
If you aren’t receiving Looking Glass emails at all, please wait 30 days before letting us know. Also be sure to check your spam and trash in case an email slipped through the cracks.

My email reminders aren’t showing up in my inbox!
Email delivery issues can be a little tricky to diagnose because there are so many points of possible failure, many of which may occur after the message leaves our server. Most of the time the message gets flagged as spam by the recipient email provider and is thus moved to the spam folder or blocked entirely.
Here are some steps you can take to potentially help alleviate the problem:
1. Make sure the email account associated with your Penzu account is correct. On your Account page, scroll down to email and double check.
2. Check your spam or junk folder in your mail client to see if the reminders are going there. If they are, you should be able to tell the client that it is not junk so hopefully it doesn’t happen in the future.
3. Try adding info@penzu.com to your address book. If you’re a Pro user, you must add your unique Penzu Post email address to your address book. To find out what your Penzu Post email address is, just email setup@post.penzu.com.
4. If you still aren’t receiving reminders, if you have another email address you use, try changing your Penzu Account email to that address to see if that solves the problem temporarily. If it does, it means that the mail provider from your other address is blocking mail from us.
Finally, you can contact us via email at support@penzu.com if you’re still having trouble.
How can I set an email reminder so I never forget to write?
On your settings page, you can create reminders that get sent to your email address that is associated with your Penzu account.
Free users can opt to get reminded daily, every other day, weekly, or monthly. Free users have a choice to be reminder in the morning (7:00 am), midday (12:00pm), or evening (7:00pm).
Pro users have the same reminder functionality, but they can set a specific time to be reminded and create multiple reminders (up to 30).
Make sure your Timezone setting is correct for your location (we don’t set this automatically) so that reminders are delivered at the correct time.

Can I change the date of an entry? (Pro)
Currently, you can only change the entry’s date if you have a Penzu Pro account. If you have a Pro account, simply click the date on the entry and select the date you wish from the date picker dropdown. If this isn’t working for you, please ensure that in your settings the “Entry Display Date” setting is set to “First Created (default)”.
